The Fire That Heals
The Fire That Heals
When truth reaches the heart, God brings healing — not condemnation.
We all see the faults in others. We all hold onto things we should release. And we all fall short of the commandments God has given us. None of us are innocent in these things — not me, not you, not anyone. But there is a path back to peace, and it begins with seeing the truth about our own hearts.
When the truth finally reaches us, we feel shame — not because God shames us, but because we suddenly see what our sin has cost. This is what Scripture means by “weeping and gnashing of teeth.” It is not God tormenting us; it is the heart breaking under the weight of truth. Shame is simply the pain of realizing the separation we created, the peace we broke, and the love we resisted. And even then, God’s desire is not to leave us in that pain. Revelation says the leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. God reveals truth so He can heal us, not destroy us.
Jesus didn’t expose our sins to condemn us, but to free us. He shows us the places where judgment, unforgiveness, and disobedience still live in us — not to accuse us, but to lead us to the Living Water that can change us from the inside out.
This is the foundation of unity with God: seeing what separates us from Him, and discovering the only One who can restore us.
I will be asking YOU these questions because I am not guilty of doing these things. I am kidding. I am as guilty of these things as we all are. It is just that I may be a step ahead of you in the only way for us not to do them and to become obedient children of God.
Do You Judge Others?
Do you see the faults in other people — the things they do wrong? This is called judging others. You don't even have to say anything out loud to be guilty of this. God knows our thoughts.
Matthew 7:1–2 (CEB)
“Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged. You’ll receive the same judgment you give. Whatever you deal out will be dealt out to you.”
Do You Hold Unforgiveness?
Do you harbor animosity or hate toward someone because of what they did?
Matthew 6:15 (CEB)
“But if you don’t forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your sins.”
Do You Disobey God’s Commands?
Do you disobey (sin against) God's laws — His commandments? It really does not matter which: the Ten Commandments, the Mosaic Law, or Jesus’ New Commandments. They are all one in the same, just expressed differently.
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Did you know that even if you have accepted Jesus’ payment or atonement for your sins, but you keep on sinning, His atonement may no longer apply? In other words, your sins may no longer be forgiven. This depends on the driving force behind your continuing to sin. You may or may not know why — but God certainly does.
Hebrews 10:26–27 (CEB)
“If we make the decision to sin after we receive the knowledge of the truth, there isn’t a sacrifice for sins left any longer. There’s only a scary expectation of judgment and of a burning fire that’s going to devour God’s opponents.”
The Greatest Commandments
Matthew 22:36–40 (KJV)
“Master, which is the great commandment in the law?”
Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Jesus made these two commandments His commandments to us.
The Only Way We Can Obey
John 14:16–17 (NASB)
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth… you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.”
For us now, we receive the Living Water — the Holy Spirit — when we ask Jesus for it.
John 14:18–21 (NASB)
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you…
In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me…”
You cannot keep His commandments unless you have the Living Water in you.
What the Living Water Does
If you can grasp what water does in our bodies, the Holy Spirit is doing the same kind of thing — but on the spiritual side.
- Water digests food → Living Water brings in the good things from Jesus.
- Water carries waste out → Living Water removes sin.
- Water enables reactions → Living Water helps us receive what we need from the Lord.
- Water sends signals → Living Water helps us obey.
- Water regulates temperature → Living Water gives us peace.
- Water lubricates joints → Living Water keeps us spiritually healthy.
Jesus Is at the Door
You can't see Jesus, but if you are reading this right now, He is right there with you. He is standing at the door of your heart. If you open your heart to Him, He will come in and be with you. No matter how bad you think you are, He will not reject you. That is simply who the One True Living God is. He abounds in loving‑kindness. He does not desire to punish us — He desires to heal us.
Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him…”
Ezekiel 18:32 (NASB)
“I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies… therefore, repent and live.”
Ezekiel 33:11 (NASB)
“I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live.”
