What is more important, righteousness or repentance?

Image
Unity Series: This image comes from the Hammer Story — a picture of returning, surrendering, and trusting the Son. It reminds us that unity with Father God begins not with our righteousness, but with repentance that brings us back into His hands. This Unity reflection explores a question that touches salvation, holiness, and the heart of the Father: What is more important, righteousness or repentance? As we walk through Scripture together, we’ll see how being born again, becoming like little children, genuine repentance, and even the Hammer Story all weave together into entering the Kingdom of God. What Is More Important: Righteousness or Repentance? There is a Scripture that says, “Be righteous, for I am righteous.” This echoes God’s call in 1 Peter 1:16 — “Be holy, because I am holy.” But can we truly do that? Maybe for a season we walk in a righteous character. Maybe for a time our choices align w...

God Is Constantly Drawing Us to Himself

Image
God Is Constantly Drawing Us to Himself There is a beautiful truth woven throughout the entire Bible: God is not distant, passive, or waiting for us to make the first move. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals a God who is continually reaching, calling, inviting, and drawing people to Himself. His heart has always been turned toward humanity. Even when we wander, He pursues. Even when we resist, He calls. Even when we fail, He draws us back with love that refuses to let go. Let’s look at the powerful ways Scripture shows this ongoing, relentless pursuit. ๐ŸŒฟ Drawn by Everlasting Love “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” — Jeremiah 31:3 God’s drawing begins with love — not judgment, not pressure, not fear. His love is everlasting , which means His drawing is continual. He doesn’t stop reaching for us because His love doesn’t stop. ✝️ Drawn to Christ Through the Cross Jesus made this promise: “No one can come to Me u...

Good Works

Image
Why Do We Do Good Works? We talk often about faith, salvation, and obedience — but beneath all of it sits a deeper question: Why do we do good works at all? What motivates us? What shapes our understanding of righteousness, mercy, and love? Across different faith traditions, the answer varies. But Scripture invites us into something far more profound than duty, reward, or fear. Different Traditions, Different Motivations Many Muslims understand good works as part of the final judgment — where deeds are weighed, and reward or loss follows. Many Jews understand good works as obedience to Torah — a life shaped by covenant faithfulness. Christians, however, often find themselves caught between two strong scriptural currents: Salvation by grace through faith Faith proven genuine through works Both appear clearly in Scripture, and both must be held together. Saved by Grace — Not by Works Paul writes with unmistakable clarity: “For it is by grace you hav...

The Lord’s Protection Through the Storms

Image
The Lord’s Protection Through the Storms Reflections on Hurricane Harvey, compassion in crisis, and trusting God’s plan. In my previous post, Jesus , I shared how I’ve learned to trust the Lord in all things and how I received salvation when I accepted Yeshua—Jesus—into my life. I’ve mentioned before that I live in the Houston, Texas area, and if you’ve followed the news, you’ve seen the destructive flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Once again, the Lord protected us. We did not get water in our home, though many in our neighborhood did. I don’t know why we were spared. We’ve lived here nearly 30 years and have never flooded, and even during Hurricane Ike we received only very minor damage. Added 10/19/17 — More of the Lord’s Protection We are fortunate to have two properties. Our second home is a little over an hour away, closer to the coast, and that area was also hit ha...

Jesus

Image
Jesus: Trusting Him in All Things Yeshua Jesus is the Son of the living God. Another name given Him is the Word of God. It is from Him we get knowledge and understanding of God. At the right time, a little over 2000 years ago, Yeshua Jesus came to earth in the form of a human, a baby born of a human mother but not of a human father. This was God's plan to save us, we humans. Jesus lived a life without sin so that He could take our place. He became that unblemished lamb that was sacrificed for our sins. All us humans have sinned, disobeyed God's laws. The Bible says that we are slaves to sin. Jesus fulfilled all prophesies proving Him to be the messiah, giving us a way to break free from the bondage of sin. He was beaten, spit on, scourged, cursed, mocked, and nailed to a cross to die. But He did not stay in the grave, that tomb. On the third day He arose from the dead. He appeared to many people for a period of 40 days until He went i...

Lent - A Time For Penance and Reflection

Image
Lent and The Sign of Jonah As we enter the season of Lent, we are invited into a time of reflection, repentance, and returning to God. Lent is not simply a ritual or tradition — it is a spiritual journey where we examine our hearts and listen closely to the Lord’s call. One of the clearest messages Jesus gave about repentance is found in His teaching about the Sign of Jonah . Luke 11:29 (NASB) As the crowds were increasing, He (Yeshua Jesus) began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation; it seeks for a sign, and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah.” The Greek word translated “generation” is genea — which can also mean “age.” Jesus could be saying: “This age is a wicked age…” The Greek word for “sign” also means a supernatural miracle, a token, or a wonder — something that produces awe and admiration. In the Old Testament story of Jonah, God sent Jonah to the wicked city of Nineveh. When Jonah final...

God is Life

Image
God Is Life: Understanding the Unseen Realm Life and Death Beyond the Visible World We often think of life and death only in physical terms—breath, heartbeat, the beginning and end of the body. But Scripture speaks of a deeper reality. The life and death described in the Bible belong to the unseen realm, where God’s presence, spiritual forces, and eternal truth shape what is truly real. When God Reveals, We Grow Into Understanding As I’ve been studying—both Scripture and what we now know about the human body—I’ve realized something important: when God first revealed His word through Moses and the Prophets, humanity did not yet have the categories to grasp the fullness of what He was showing. God is described as fire. The Holy Spirit is the breath and power of God. Jesus is the Word made flesh. Three distinct persons, yet one God. We may struggle to understand how this works, but God gave us a living demonstration through Jesus Christ—especially in His sacrificia...

Reason for me saying "Once Saved Always Saved" is wrong

Image
Unity Series: “Remain in Me” — John 15:1‑6. True salvation is found in abiding with the Son, not in a moment of belief alone. This Unity reflection shares why the mindset of “Once Saved Always Saved” can be spiritually dangerous. The goal is not condemnation, but love — pointing hearts back to the truth of entering God’s Kingdom His way, not ours. Why I Believe “Once Saved Always Saved” Is Not True The reason I speak against the mindset of “Once Saved Always Saved” is not to condemn anyone. My heart is not to judge, but to warn in love. Over time, Father God has shown me how deeply He loves us and how much He desires every one of us to enter His new righteous Kingdom — but we must enter His way , not ours. I truly believe many people have been given a false hope that they will enter the Kingdom simply because they once accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Too often, we remember the Savior p...

"Once Saved Always Saved" is wrong

Image
I’ve been reluctant to say this for a long time, but the Lord has made it clear to me: the mindset of “Once Saved Always Saved” is wrong and spiritually dangerous. Not long ago, hearing someone say that would have upset me too. It took a great deal of convincing from the Lord to bring me to this point. This was one of the main reasons I felt led to start this blog. In many ways, I consider it the Lord’s blog. Everything I’ve posted so far has come from what He has shown me in His Word. I don’t always understand it fully at first, but each day He gives me more clarity. As I look back, I can see how He has been preparing me for this message for years. Two weekends before I began the blog, He brought together everything He had shown me. I thought I was supposed to share it at a church reunion of pastors, missionaries, and members from the church where I first accepted Christ. Everyone there believed “Once Saved Always Sa...
