Dream – God Keeping His Body Healthy
Introduction
I woke up at 2 AM this morning from a dream — and I knew immediately it was from the Lord. I say this because I rarely remember dreams anymore. Most nights, if I do dream, it’s scattered fragments, nothing clear. But this one was vivid. I remembered every part of it.
In the dream, I was talking with someone who was explaining to me how the body of Christ is like a human body — like my body. Every part has a purpose. Every member has a function. And when one part becomes sick, the doctor prescribes medicine to heal it. But sometimes, the sickness is so deep, so destructive, that the only way to save the rest of the body is to remove the diseased part entirely, like cutting out a cancer.
When I woke up, the Spirit immediately brought John 15 to mind — the Vine, the Branches, and the Father who lovingly tends the whole.
Scripture — John 15:1–17
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener…
Every branch in me that bears no fruit He cuts off,
and every branch that does bear fruit He prunes
so that it will be even more fruitful.”
This passage is one of the clearest pictures Jesus ever gave us of how the Father cares for His people — not harshly, not recklessly, but with the careful hands of a gardener who knows exactly what each branch needs.
Reflection — The Dream and the Body
In my dream, the person speaking to me made it simple: The body of Christ works like the human body.
- Every part has a role.
- Every part contributes to the health of the whole.
- Every part is connected.
When a part becomes sick, the body tries to heal it. When a part becomes wounded, the body rushes resources to restore it. But when a part becomes destructive — when it threatens the life of the whole — the body must act to protect itself.
This is not cruelty.
This is mercy.
It is the same with the Vine.
Jesus said that branches which do not remain in Him cannot bear fruit. They wither. They disconnect from life. And the Father, in His wisdom, removes what is dead so that what is living may flourish.
This is not punishment.
This is love.
The Father prunes fruitful branches so they can bear more fruit.
He removes dead branches so the living ones can thrive.
He tends the Vine with perfect care.
Remaining in the Vine
The heart of John 15 is not judgment — it is union.
- Remain in Me.
- Let My words remain in you.
- Remain in My love.
- Love one another as I have loved you.
The pruning, the cutting, the cleansing — all of it flows from this one truth:
Life comes from staying connected to Him.
Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
In Him, we bear much fruit.
Through Him, our joy becomes complete.
The dream reminded me that unity in the body of Christ is not automatic. It is cultivated. It is tended. It is protected. And sometimes, it is purified.
The Father’s Care
Just as a doctor removes what threatens the body, the Father removes what threatens the Vine.
Not out of anger.
Not out of impatience.
But out of love for the whole.
He prunes us so we can grow.
He corrects us so we can flourish.
He guards the unity of His people so that the life of Christ can flow freely through
every branch.
This is the wisdom of the Gardener.
This is the life of the Vine.
This is the calling of the branches.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for watching over Your people with perfect love.
Thank You for pruning what needs to be pruned and healing what needs to be healed.
Help us remain in Your Son, stay rooted in Your Word, and walk in Your love.
Make us fruitful branches that bring You glory.
