My Journey to see God's Kingdom clearer
There are quiet moments in our daily routines—like a peaceful morning with a cup of coffee—when God gently brings the journey of our spiritual growth into focus. Over the years, the way we seek Him and study His word evolves, but the destination remains the same: a deep, direct relationship with our Father.
We have only ONE Father, Father God. We have only ONE teacher, Yeshua Jesus.
Scripture
Matthew 23:8-10 World English Bible
8 But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi’, for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.
9 Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
10 Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.
Reflection
This was on my mind this morning while I was enjoying my first cup of coffee. I found myself thinking about these past fifteen-plus years of writing this blog and how the words have come to me. The process has changed so much over time.
When I first started, my writing always began with the Bible. The very first one I used was a New American Standard Bible given to me by my wife before we were married. Back then, people often told me that the King James Version was the only one to use. I suppose I was a bit of a rebel—and I guess my wife was too for giving it to me!
Over time, my study habits expanded. I started including study Bibles, dictionaries, concordances, and commentaries. I sometimes would compare different versions side by side. Eventually, I wanted to find translations closest to the original Greek and Hebrew. Since I didn’t know those original languages, I sought out resources that gave me the meanings of those words into English. Various non-religious books happened into my life which helped me understand scriptures better and see God clearer. The evolution of my writing mirrored my spiritual journey; every new tool, commentary, and book brought me closer and closer to God.
Connection to Today
Now, as I’ve come to understand the Kingdom of God better—and explored how Quakers practice worship—everything is falling into place. We can receive information directly from God, with no in-between sources needed. We don't require a preacher, a book, or any other intermediary to learn His ways. When we reside in His Kingdom, the now Kingdom, Yeshua Jesus teaches us directly.
I often think about this Kingdom now. How do we know we are in it, and what must happen to enter? As I've shared before, we must change, turn, repent, and become like little children (Matthew 18:3). We must be born again, born of the Spirit (John 3). Those who dwell in the Kingdom are instructed by Yeshua Jesus himself. Judgment is no longer measured by human standards; rather, Father God judges perfectly because He knows all things.
Those in the Kingdom become ONE with the Father, the Son, the Spirit, and ONE with each other. What flows out of this unity is a mirror representation of Christ Jesus—the very character he embodied while walking here on earth. Father God looks over the Kingdom. He sees that everything is working perfectly.
John 15:1-5 Common English Bible
I am the true vine
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vineyard keeper. 2 He removes any of my branches that don’t produce fruit, and he trims any branch that produces fruit so that it will produce even more fruit. 3 You are already trimmed because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch can’t produce fruit by itself, but must remain in the vine. Likewise, you can’t produce fruit unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, then you will produce much fruit. Without me, you can’t do anything.
Closing
As we walk through our days, may we rest in the quiet assurance that our ultimate Teacher is always near, guiding our steps and shaping our hearts from within His Kingdom.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your loving presence this morning. Thank You for drawing us into Your Kingdom and teaching us directly through Your Son, Yeshua Jesus. Guide our hearts and minds today, and help us to reflect Your grace, love, and character in all that we do. Amen.
