The Slow Awakening — God’s Timing in the Hearts of Jews, Muslims, and the World
A Unity Series reflection on identity, resistance, and God’s gentle work of awakening across the world.
The sense that something is shifting
There are moments when I look at the world and feel something shifting. Something subtle, something quiet, something slow — but unmistakably God‑driven. I see it in conversations with rabbis. I see it in Muslims who begin to question what they’ve always been told. I see it in Christians who are shedding old denominational walls. I see it in people everywhere who are starting to look toward Yeshua with new eyes.
And I keep thinking: This is God’s work. This is His timing. This is His awakening.
But I also feel the tension inside myself — the desire for it to happen faster. The longing for hearts to open now. The impatience of watching God move one grain of sand at a time.
Yet the more I reflect, the more I understand: God moves slowly because He moves deeply.
The walls that took centuries to build do not fall in a day
When I speak with Jewish rabbis, I’m reminded of how deeply identity is woven into belief. Their resistance isn’t stubbornness. It isn’t blindness. It isn’t hostility.
It’s identity protection.
For thousands of years, Jewish survival depended on staying distinct — keeping Torah, maintaining purity laws, avoiding assimilation, guarding their community. Over time, this created a fortress around the heart. A fortress built from:
- tradition
- history
- trauma
- separation
- cultural memory
- fear of losing identity
So when Yeshua is mentioned, it isn’t just a theological question. It’s a question that touches the deepest layers of who they are.
The same is true for Muslims. Their system is built on obedience, on submission, on the belief that the final revelation has already come. Leaving Islam can mean losing family, community, safety, identity. Their resistance isn’t hatred — it’s fear of collapse.
And Christians? We have our own walls too — denominational traditions, doctrinal boundaries, familiar routines, inherited interpretations.
Every group protects its identity. Every brain protects its stability. Every heart protects what feels safe.
This is exactly what neuroscience shows us: the brain treats identity threats like physical danger.
So of course change is slow. Of course awakening is gradual. Of course hearts open one crack at a time.
But the cracks are appearing
This is the part that gives me hope.
I see Jews beginning to question. I see Muslims having dreams of Yeshua. I see Christians rediscovering unity. I see people everywhere sensing something new.
These cracks are not human achievement. They are not clever arguments. They are not debates won.
They are God’s fingerprints.
They are the quiet work of the Spirit, softening hearts, loosening old structures, warming places that have been cold for centuries.
This is not a human movement. This is a divine one.
God’s timing is not our timing
I want it to happen faster. I want the walls to fall. I want the world to see Yeshua clearly. I want unity, restoration, awakening.
But God is not slow. He is precise.
He moves when:
- the heart is ready
- the identity can shift
- the fear can be released
- the community can absorb the change
- the person can survive the transformation
He doesn’t rush awakening. He grows it.
He doesn’t break walls. He dissolves them.
He doesn’t force hearts. He warms them.
And what I’m seeing — what we’re seeing — is the beginning of something enormous. A global softening. A gentle stirring. A slow but unstoppable movement toward the Messiah.
And maybe that’s why God put this desire in me
Because I’m not just observing this. I’m part of it.
My questions, my writing, my longing for unity — these aren’t accidents. They’re assignments. God uses voices like mine, like yours, like anyone who feels this stirring, to help soften hearts.
Not through argument. Not through pressure. Not through debate.
But through love. Through clarity. Through truth spoken gently. Through unity lived out. Through the Spirit’s timing.
The awakening is happening. Slowly. Quietly. Beautifully. And God is leading it.
Isaiah 60:1–3
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
Darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
