Peace, Be Still — The Power That Calms the Storm

A Reflection on Divine Energy and Faith

In this Unity Series reflection, I explore the idea of God‑given power—the kind Jesus demonstrated, the apostles witnessed, and the Scriptures describe. This is not power that elevates us above Christ, but power that flows from Him and works through us. These thoughts are part testimony, part study, and part unfolding insight.

The Power That Flows From Jesus

In Mark 5:30, Jesus realized that power had gone out from Him. This was not symbolic. It was real, measurable, and noticeable. Paul reinforces this in 1 Corinthians 4:20: “For the kingdom of God is not with talk, but with power.”

The Quakers teach that there is “something of God in everyone.” Jesus Himself said in John 14:12 that those who believe in Him would do the works He did—and even greater ones. This does not mean we become greater than Jesus. It means His power can work through us when we trust Him.

Coincidences and Divine Guidance

I recently read The Celestine Insights by James Redfield. Though fictional, the insights are based on real experiences and meaningful coincidences. Many of us have had moments that seemed odd at the time but later revealed purpose. The Second Insight teaches that these coincidences are divinely guided and often understood only in hindsight.

Throughout my life, I’ve experienced many such coincidences. Only now am I beginning to understand how they connect.

A Thought: We Are Like Storage Batteries

Imagine yourself as a storage battery. We store God‑power, and the capacity is limitless. Some things drain this power; others increase it.

  • We can give power to others.
  • We can take or steal power from others.
  • When we give power, God replenishes us with more.
  • When we take power, that is all we get.

Here is where my thoughts are so far:

  1. There is something of God in all of us.
  2. We can give or take energy.
  3. If we take energy, that is all we get.
  4. If we give energy, God rewards us with more.

Greater Works and the Power of Belief

Jesus said believers would do greater works than He did. Not greater in importance, but greater in scope—because His Spirit would be working through millions, not just one.

Here are works Jesus did that I believe could flow through us if we were fully aligned with God’s power:

  • Heal the sick
  • Feed multitudes with little
  • Give sight to the blind
  • Give hearing to the deaf
  • Restore broken bodies
  • Raise the dead
  • Calm storms
  • Cast out demons
  • Show deep compassion

My Experience During Hurricane Laura

I live on the Louisiana side of Houston. When Hurricane Laura approached, Houston was in the cone of uncertainty. I remembered Jesus calming the sea and asked for prayers from others. My prayer was simple: that the storm would dissipate completely.

Houston received no rain and no wind. The storm shifted. But I also wondered whether our prayers affected those in its path. Laura behaved strangely—almost like a massive tornado with a narrow corridor of destruction.

Later, I studied how Jesus calmed the storm in Mark 4:35–41. He rebuked the wind and then spoke to the sea separately. The Greek words reveal a deeper meaning: to silence, to hush, to muzzle.

Water, Words, and Frequency

Masaru Emoto’s experiments showed that water responds to words, thoughts, and emotions. Kind words produced beautiful crystalline structures; harsh words produced chaotic ones. Prayer and music also changed the water.

This suggests that power is real—something Jesus understood perfectly.

Vibration, Frequency, and Harmony

Everything in the universe vibrates. Love vibrates at 528hz—the “Miracle Frequency.” When we align with love, we resonate with Heaven and Earth. When we are out of tune, we create disharmony.

I believe that when we align ourselves with love—individually or collectively—we begin to understand the “greater works” Jesus spoke of.

These thoughts are still unfolding in me. But I believe God is inviting us to understand His power—not to elevate ourselves, but to participate in His work. The more we give, the more He fills. The more we align with love, the more His power flows.
