To all the world leaders.

Dawn Sunrise Header

In every generation, those who hold power shape the lives of millions. Yet the true measure of leadership is not found in wealth or influence, but in compassion, humility, and the willingness to see others as God sees them.

Where Is Your Heart?

To all the world leaders — those who rule over nations and guide the destiny of people — I ask you this: Where is your heart?

What occupies your thoughts? Is your mind set on the well‑being of the people you govern, or on gaining more wealth and power?

Imagine for a moment that you had not been born into privilege or influence. What if you had been born into poverty, and someone else held the power you now possess — using it in the same way you are using yours? How would you feel?

The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus

Yeshua (Jesus) once told a parable about a rich man and a poor beggar who longed for nothing more than a few scraps from the rich man’s table.

Luke 16:19–25 (LEB)

19 “Now a certain man was rich, and dressed in purple cloth and fine linen, feasting sumptuously every day.
20 And a certain poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, lay at his gate,
21 longing to be filled with what fell from the table of the rich man. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
23 In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus at his side.
24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am suffering in this flame!’
25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you received your good things in your lifetime, and Lazarus bad things. But now he is comforted here, and you are in pain.’”

The Madness of Destructive Power

Many world leaders spend unimaginable amounts of money building weapons designed to kill. Each nation tries to outdo the others. If we consider only the number of nuclear weapons in existence today, it is clear that it would not take all of them to destroy the earth. So why build more?

We should be dismantling these weapons, not multiplying them. We should be converting that energy, that money, that brilliance into something constructive, not destructive.

Imagine what humanity could accomplish if even a fraction of that funding were used to heal, build, restore, and uplift.

A Childhood Lesson

When I was about five years old, I was playing in our front yard with some neighborhood kids, also my sister was there. A boy from across the street came over with two pairs of boxing gloves. He wanted someone to fight him. I already knew his reputation — he beat up kids older than himself and, he was older than me. I certainly didn’t want to fight him, but the other kids pressured me into it.

I tried my best, but I couldn’t land a single punch. He hit me several times, and I started crying. I pulled off the gloves and yelled, “I told you I didn’t want to fight!” The other kids laughed at me. My crying turned into anger, and I saw a brick in the flower bed. I picked it up, ready to throw it at him.

The others — my sister included — saw that I was serious. They stopped me before I did something I would have regretted.

People often react without thinking about the consequences. Now imagine a world leader reacting in anger — but with access to nuclear weapons. You understand the danger.

A Call to Peace

Can you imagine how different the world would be if our leaders worked together for peace instead of dominance?

We Will All Be Judged

Every one of us — both the living and the dead — will one day be judged by God himself. No one will escape. God, who sees all things, judges with perfect fairness and righteousness. Just contemplate what that will be like. How will you/I do?

May we learn to lead with humility, to act with compassion, and to seek peace rather than power. The world is watching, and so is the One who judges all things with perfect truth.

Father, soften the hearts of leaders across the earth.
Turn their minds toward justice, mercy, and peace.
Teach us all to walk in humility and to value every life You have created.
Amen.
